Coed Varsity Football · Coach Winstead

Goose Creek High School welcomes Coach Jason Winstead, from South Pointe High School of Rock Hill, SC as the head coach of the football team in hopes to bring success back to the Creek. While at South Pointe, he helped lead his team to 5 State Championships in 7 seasons with a record of 92-11.

This upcoming season will mark his 21st year of coaching football. Winstead says he is bringing his abilities, knowledge and skills to Goose Creek because “It’s a great school and community, who wants to support athletics.”

After having played football and baseball in high school, Winstead attended Clemson University and coached football while enrolled. After graduating from Clemson, Coach Winstead says, ” I’ve always had a  love of sports and wanted to continue once I couldn’t play anymore.” He believes that coaching has allowed him to have an influence on the lives of young adults and prepare players to be successful in both life and football.

This upcoming season is one to look forward to. Coach says he has no idea who will make the greatest impact because everyone is getting a fresh start. He plans on working hard to build the team’s chemistry and make sure the players are putting the work in inside the weight room. He says he would liked to be remembered at Goose Creek High School simply, “As a coach who cared about his players.”
