Gators News · Goodbye to a Great One

This year marks last one for Coach Leonard Covington. Despite having officially retired from coaching last season, Coach Cov continued to teach and volunteer coach this year. Cov (as he likes to be called) will officially hang up his whistle after 33 years as a teacher and coach. To say that he will be missed is putting it lightly.

Before deciding to retire from coaching last year, Coach Cov amassed 442 wins over his career. He is the winningest coach in the Lowcountry and ranks 4th in overall in the state. He brought his expertise to Goose Creek High School and put his efforts into making the Gator Wrestling Team what it is today. Coach Covington, The Gator Nation thanks you for everything. We will miss you and never forget all you’ve done here.
